Shhhhhh! There is a secret about vitamin A that has been kept  for years: even though it is listed as an ingredient on the label of many products, in most cases, it is not in the bottle. Vitamin A, in various forms, has been touted as one of the skin's best anti-aging secrets, and because most skincare companies claim to use vitamin A in their formulas, understanding this issue is a must.

Vitamin A comes in several forms in both our skin and skincare products. Retinols, including retinyl palmitate, retinyl acetate, retinaldehyde, and retinoic acid, are the most common forms used by skincare professionals. As many chemists know, retinols are highly unstable and often degrade significantly while in the bottle in fewer than six months.
